Heritage Auctions: October Surprise (October 2016)

With the American presidential election just around the corner, Artsy and Heritage present their inaugural collaboration October Surprise—featuring works by contemporary and established artists such as Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, and Robert Rauschenberg. Bidding is open exclusively on Artsy and will close at 6:00pm ET on Thursday October 20, 2016.

"October Surprise" is American political jargon for a news event orchestrated (or apparently orchestrated) in the month before the election, with the hopes of affecting the final outcome. In the run up to the blockbuster election, this sale will explore themes of culture and identity, along with symbols of what America means to domestic and international artists.
