Rothko Chapel: INSPIRIT 2024 Benefit Art Auction

The Rothko Chapel’s mission is to create opportunities for spiritual growth and dialogue that illuminate our shared humanity and inspire action leading to a world in which all are treated with dignity and respect. More than 50 years ago, art patrons Dominique and John de Menil commissioned Mark Rothko to create an intimate sanctuary where art and architecture work in harmony to welcome people from all walks of life, a sacred space where art invites contemplation and action. The Rothko Chapel is a spiritual space, a forum for world leaders, a place for solitude and gathering.

Proceeds from INSPIRIT: Rothko Chapel’s Evening of Inspiration and this benefit art auction will support the nonprofit’s work in championing human rights and the struggle for justice through programs that foster mutual understanding and inspire action while effecting social change. The INSPIRIT: 2024 Benefit Art Auction is organized by Robert McClain, founder of McClain Gallery in Houston. For over 40 years, Robert McClain has focused on exhibiting and acquiring museum-quality modern and contemporary art. Representing important 20th-century figures and many Texas-based artists, McClain is also committed to fostering younger generations of artists from around the world. In addition to McClain, the auction committee includes Sharon Graham, Hélène Schlumberger, and Melissa Richardson Banks of CauseConnect.

Bidding is open exclusively on Artsy and will begin to close on Thursday, March 7 at 12pm CDT (1pm EST).

The countdown timer on the artwork pages will display the end time for the lot. Each lot closes in 1-minute increments and will be reset to 2 minutes if a bid is placed within the 2 minutes before the lot's scheduled closing time. For further information please see our FAQ
