In an art world buzzing with NFTs, blockchain certification, and cryptocurrency, bitforms gallery celebrates the heritage of new media artwork—and the many mediums it embodies. This year’s booth invites a curated survey of sculpture, painting, works on paper, and video that critically interfaces with technology. Our presentation aims to generate an acute reflection of the tools used by artists to communicate and develop shared experiences.

Conversations | Immersive Installations? Digital Experiences in the Exhibition

Developments in digital technology have seen exhibition spaces welcoming increasingly large-scale, interactive and immersive installations. Beyond the initial spectacle in space, what strategies are artists using to transport viewers? From the perspectives of artists or the newly established Superblue, Miami, this panel considers what such installations reveal about technology’s growing influence on reality. Can these works also raise awareness around the politics of algorithms, digital access and technology’s impact on ecology?
Conversations take place in the Auditorium (Grand Ballroom).
They are free and open to the public on a first come first serve basis, no booking required.
Doors will open 10 min before the event.
All conversations will also be live-streamed with subtitles on the Art Basel Facebook page.
A recording will be available on the Art Basel youtube channel after the event.
