Film screening and conversation: The Temptation of Doctor Antonio by Federico Fellini Saint Anthony (251–356) retreated into the Egyptian desert only to be tormented by fantastical visions. His experience, foundational for Christian monasticism, inspired many modern artists. Bowdoin faculty members Todd Berzon, Alison Cooper, and Pamela Fletcher offer introductions to the origins and allure of Saint Anthony’s legend and discuss the masterful film Federico Fellini based on the saint’s visions. Organized in conjunction with the exhibition The Temptation of Saint Anthony.
