Drawn from life, Daisy Craddock's diptychs are studies of fruits and vegetables. Although at first glance, they appear to be abstract blocks of color, closer observation shows they are literal depections of their subjects – skin on the left side, and flesh on the right. Using oil pastel, Craddock layers the colors in varied tones and hues, scraping and burnishing to achieve subtle gradations of color and texture.
