Cecilia de Torres, Ltd. invites you to "Francisco Matto: Another Way of Seeing", a retrospective exhibition of the Uruguayan artist’s paintings, wood constructions and works on paper on view from February 25 through May 2016. As an extension of our booth for The Armory Show 2016, which primarily features Francisco Matto’s work, this exhibition brings to light the art of one of Torres-García’s most innovative and talented students. Influenced by the constructivist aesthetic and pre-Columbian art, Matto’s work reflects a constant search for the elemental forms, introducing a unique mystical dimension derived from nature. “During his lifetime, Francisco Matto opened the threshold of his artistic forms to a new kind of experience -- a conjugation of heart, body, and mind.
