His abstracted depictions of ‘traditional’ subjects such as hunting parades and explorers exude an extraordinarily rich sense of vision. Layered arrangements of complementary colours, reminiscent of the Rococo and of tapestry, offer multiple focal points and keep the eye in constant motion.
