For over a decade, Rydz's process begins from studying, documenting and drawing from bodies of water across the Americas, extending from here in the Boston area where she is based, to Miami where she was raised, to Cuba and Colombia where her parents were born. In her work, water is centered as source imagery, the main subject, a physical material, and as a drawing tool.

Featured in the exhibition is Open Waters (flags of convenience), a new body of mixed media works using graphite, color pencil, gouache, watercolor and saltwater on paper. The imagery is based on “open for business …
