Over 50 years, Lotte Berger created an extensive oeuvre of deep symbolical meaning, focusing on the symbiotic pervasion of nature, human beings, animals and plants. Animals are drawn directly from memory, without immediate models. Myths, religious topics, voyages and foreign cultures – especially South American indigenous communities – greatly inspired the artist.
