The work of Coraline de Chiara is based on the image. From various sources, différent times and civilizations, history books, bestiaries, encyclopedies, Coraline de Chiara reworks existing images, justaposes, erases, manipulates and paints them until she makes them own. On her canvases a painted post-it note, a piece of tracing paper set as a bookmark come to disturb the eye, like remains of annotations, of memory aids. Her images of ancient sculptures drawn from art book, these volcanoes stones or museum views are combined with other images.
