Born in China, and a graduate of the Shandong Institute of Fine Arts, Wang Yan Cheng moved to France in the early 1990s to acquire a deeper knowledge of western art and be closer to his esteemed predecessors, Zao Wou-Ki and Chu Teh-Chun, whom he greatly admired.
