The sensation that one has in front of Bernardi’s works is exquisitely synaesthetic. The eye is first to be struck, naturally, subjugated by the transparency of the crystal, the gummy consistency of the lolly that already seems to give way beneath our fingers, the full and pulsating colours. But then the smell arrives: the unmistakable perfume, vaguely stupefying, that envelops us when we enter a sweet shop. One cannot look at these works without one's mouth-watering and one's eyes wide open.
