We are pleased to host a digital event over Zoom as part of the exhibition Borders where Khaleb Brooks will present his performance interrogating the notions of systematic oppression as well as the idea of going back to "normal" in our society, as the world as we know it changes forever. "On the 25th of May George Floyd was murdered by the police in Minneapolis. Officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on Floyd's neck for 8 minutes and 45 seconds suffocating him to death. This behavior is not new to America nor is it unique to America. Violence and systematic oppression against people of the African diaspora is a global pandemic that unfortunately has existed much longer than the Corona virus. " - Khaleb Brooks Khaleb Brooks is a multi-disciplinary artist and researcher exploring blackness, gender and the differences between memory and history. Through painting, printmaking, performance and video he asks what tools of liberation, grief and healing exist when there is no agency.
