For Frieze New York 2020, Goodman Gallery presents a series of works which unpack the dynamics of memory and time. Memory is shaped by both personal and collective experiences — affecting the construction of selfhood and identity. There is a tension between time and memory as memory lives in both the past and the present, moving back and forth between the two sites. It informs what author Ursula LeGuin calls “an archeology of the future”, which is to say that, without memory, we can not imagine a future.
