The recording of time is a constant theme in Agathe de Bailliencourt’s (b. 1974) practice. In her paintings, drawings and in-situ installations, figures of repetition and also writing often bring about motifs of landscape and nature. On raw linen or paper, with acrylic paint, ink or pencils, the physical gesture is directly and irretrievably inscribed into the material. Since 2017, the question of recording time has been addressed more specifically as a problem of acceleration and collapse.
