Statement
For Art Paris 2022, the Galerie Jacques Bailly presents works by two major artists of the 20th century – André Masson and Olivier Debré.

André Masson (1896-1987) surrealist of the first hour around André Breton with Max Ernst, Joan Miró, Salvador Dali, Yves Tanguy. Famous for his automatic drawings and sand paintings, during his exile in the United States between 1941-45, his work prefigures American abstract expressionism.
Olivier Debré (1920-1999) painter of European lyrical abstraction since the 1940s. Around 1950-60 he is characterized by representations celebrating the impermanence of nature. His works, sometimes extremely large, exalt color.
