Rapid changes between divisions, genres, backgrounds and contexts are part of Jim Avignon's artistic strategy. He was never interested in the rules of the art market, only when it was necessary to break or to drive ironic games with them. Avignon likes to use cheap material and shredding sometimes his own works, in order to give away afterwards the relics to documenta visitors. His fantastical, pop images with large areas of color and clear black lines are genre paintings of the modern era.
