Back to KEIKO AIKAWA | A face within a face 顔のなかの顔 at Medel Gallery Shu

About

Statement

Aikawa draws distorted, eyeless faces with distorted expressions, focusing on "the affection for the negative roots of a person's inner life. She uses this technique not only to highlight the anonymity of not depicting eyes, but also to stimulate the imagination of the viewer.

Press Release

MEDEL GALLERY SHU is pleased to announce Keiko Aikawa's first solo exhibition in Tokyo from June 28 to July 10.
The unique distortion of the paint that has been scraped off some part of the face becomes the icon of the work, and together with the restrained color tone, eloquently conveys the fact that this is Aikawa's work.
