From the beginning of her career, Benigna Chilla (b. 1940, Hamburg, Germany) has examined the dialectic between geometric precision and the intuition of her subconscious. This exhibition presents selections from two distinct bodies of Chilla’s work: exploratory pastels on paper dating from her first years as a professional artist in the 1960s and large-scale mixed-media paintings executed in the past decade.
