Born in Heston, West London in 1938, Terry O'Neill aspired to become a Jazz musician, following his love of music. He first tried to get a job as an airline steward and hoped to travel to New York to play in Jazz clubs, but no positions were available. Terry O'Neill started taking pictures by chance, as part of the job he got was to photograph travellers arriving and departing at airport terminals. His unusual approach, his photographic eye and talent to capture the right moment was soon discovered.
