Miho Kajioka was born 1973 in Okayama, Japan. At the age of 18, she moved to California, where she studied painting at the Art Institute in San Francisco, and then turned to photography. In 1995, she left California for Montreal, Canada, where she continued her art training at Concordia University. After her diploma, she returned to Japan where she worked as a journalist, producer, documentary maker, in particular for foreign television and media.
