GOD IS TRANS interrupts the notion that God is male and ask the viewer to see God outside of traditional gender binaries but as trans; a spirit that occupies both genders and everything in between. Though, “You’re Going to Hell” is still echoed in my mind, my prayers and theological research in biblical text confirm that God loves us all, God designed us each specifically with purpose and love. If we can accept the duality of God we can accept the differences in each other. GOD IS TRANS. simply, holds a safe space visually for spirited queer folk. GOD IS TRANS is a visual movement! It does not JUDGE! It’s a safe space for the gender-full. The paintings empower spiritual fluidity that gives representation to people who love God.
