Statement

Shibunkaku showcases Japanese art from the early twentieth century to the present, including painting by Hishida Shunsō, Yamaguchi Takeo and Kumagai Morikazu, calligraphy by Inoue Yūichi and Morita Shiryū, and ceramics and glass sculpture by Miyanaga Rikichi and Mishima Ritsue.

For TEFAF Maastricht 2020, Shibunkaku presents a selection of works from the early twentieth century to such of more recent times, including the strikingly versatile painters Hishida Shunsō and Kayama Matazō, mid-century mainstays such as Yamaguchi Takeo and Kumagai Morikazu, avant-garde calligraphy by Inoue Yūichi and Morita Shiryū of the Bokujinkai group, and in the fields of ceramic and glass sculpture, Miyanaga Rikichi and Mishima Ritsue who continue to combine contemporary aesthetics with craftsmanship and tradition.
