During the first half of the 1950s, Asis trained at the Escuela de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires, as did his compatriot Julio Le Parc. There he was introduced to the geometric art of Constructivism and the Bauhaus, as well as to the perceptual logic of Gestalt theory, by Héctor Cartier. Cartier also introduced him to kineticism, as revealed in the 1955 exhibition “Le Mouvement” at Galerie Denise René in Paris. This led Asis to settle in the French capital in 1956, to be at the heart of its aesthetic effervescence.
