About

"Some painters say that a painting is never finished, it just stops. Some painters also say that all that matters in a painting is the last brush stroke. The paintings that I use are failures. They all started with the first ambitious brush stroke but lost their way. Some failed to stop and went too far, some were abandoned before they got anywhere. I know this not because I know anything about painting but because I get them from those treasure troves of failure, from art school skips, charity shops and car boot sales. And even if, perhaps, the hand of its maker had placed the last brush stroke just so, the painting ended where it did because it was unloved by its owner. And that's a failure enough." -Pavel Büchler, January, 2013
