There are dozens of photographers there, from all over the world all vying for the best spot. A Mask may be surrounded by thirty or so photographers and you may get only a quick chance to snap. You must be ready and patient. You must get up very early in the cold morning. Carnevale is always pre lent, in Venice this means late January or early February. The city is decked out with all sorts of events, masked balls, and music. But it is the beautiful masked people you seek. There are absolutely beautiful costumes all over the city, but especially in a few spots you learn to know.
