Opening reception of LIFEFORCE group show featuring the work of 24 female artists: Amanda Turner Pohan, Aria McManus, Chiara Girimonti, Doreen Garner, Elizabeth Ilsley, Hein Koh, Fahren Feingold, Jeanette Hayes, Jessica Stoller, Jo Shane, Juno Calypso, Kelsey Bennett, Maggie Dunlap, Maisie Cousins, Monica Garza, Nadia Lee Cohen, Nicole Nadeau, Panteha Abareshi, Parker Day, Raine Trainor, Sam Cannon, Signe Pierce, Tafv Sampson, and Taira Rice.

The Untitled Space and gallery director, Indira Cesarine, invite you to a reception and talk with artists featured in exhibit LIFEFORCE. The all female group show of 24 artists explores the feminine in the context of a genderless future and is curated by sisters Kelsey and Rémy Bennett. The talk will include guest speaker and moderator Dr Danya Glabou, who teaches cyborg feminism at Brooklyn Institute and specializes in feminist theory and science studies. Artists who will be included in the talk include Amanda Turner Pohan, Hein Koh, Jeannette Hayes, Kelsey Bennett, Maggie Dunlap, Nicole Nadeau, Rémy Bennett, Sam Cannon, Signe Pierce and Taira Rice. LIFEFORCE is inspired by Donna Haraway’s essay, A Cyborg Manifesto, feminist science fiction and Afrofurturists of the 1970s. The exhibit features performance, sculpture, painting, comics, and photography that aim to re code normative expectations celebrating the LIFEFORCE that is beyond human matter and closer to it’s essence. The work focuses on the all encompassing power of “the female” on both physical and metaphysical levels – transcending constructs of race and gender, reclaiming representation, & exploring intersections with science & technology.
