The Thompson Landry Gallery is excited to spotlight Un lieu à soi by Carol Bernier. (A place of one’s own) is a reflection on the power of art to create a larger “space”. Carol refers not literally to a room, or other physically circumscribed space, but rather a reflection of anchoring and origins. Where do we come from? What is this strength or particular colour that makes us unique? A place of one's own could be defined as the centre of oneself; a strong and unique space like a new branch that detaches itself from a trunk and takes its own form.
