Yves Clerc: Back to Nature is an invitation to contemplate this represented reality, a reality where human presence is submerged under lush vegetation. A reality where nature reclaims its rights.
I chose, according to my aesthetic mood, to accumulate various details from nature - petals, leaves, flowers - with no respect for proportions or reality - Yves Clerc
Figurative yet surreal, Yves Clerc's painting is a decorative splendor where the artist defines his "painted reality." Drawing inspiration from the surrounding real world, the painter transcends figuration to surpass its subject. Disregarded proportions, arranged colors, and infinite compositions of forms - details of nature such as petals, leaves, and flowers - are accumulated to highlight the magnificence of pictorial details. It is through the artist’s virtuosity and singular technique that his works imbue light and come alive before the viewer's eyes. These layered paint strokes add additional perspective to the works, giving them an appearance of depth and texture. This endless series of small strokes and rubbings, reminiscent of post-impressionist techniques, forms the pure essence of his painting. Although the subjects vary, through his distinctive material, the work remains inherently Yves Clerc. As a mannerist artist, Clerc does not seek to imitate reality but rather attempts to represent a vision of the world where his art manifests through the elongation of forms, saturation of colors, and tension in postures. Thus, his work can be seen as a gateway, a passage between two worlds - the real world and the represented one.
