"I'm used to always drawing from life. There is a lot of spontaneity, mindfulness, meditation and ease in this process. When, relying on visual impressions, suddenly there are many options for solving these images in your work, you feel omnipotent! But nature also has its own power and sometimes seems to whisper “draw me as I am, don’t care about the image” 😆. So we fight it. In general, I have accumulated a lot of sketches and now I’m interested in getting them out, pressing them and reworking them so that there is even more artistry and freedom in them. The graphic work "Color Games" by Anna Lageda, made in red pastel, is a sketch from the life of the artist herself - a quiet family evening. The boys calmly play while looking at the phone, illuminating their faces with the blue light of the screen and creating a gray shadow on the objects. Imagination takes us further: dad is doing his own thing somewhere, pets are sleeping or walking, mom is painting. There is light and warmth in the work, one feels the calmness and comfort of a family evening. The images of children are made just in the manner of "non finito" ("incompletion"), the details are not drawn. The background is not closed at the edges, the color of the paper complements the created images and also enhances the unfinished style. The work is bright, but soft pastel hides the bright red color and creates a noble shade. The cool gray color in the shadows superimposed on the red takes on a warm brown tint. This property of pastels attracts masters of painting, namely, the nobility, purity and freshness of color, the velvety surface of the texture, the liveliness and exciting vibration of the stroke.
