Caroll Jones was a childhood friend of Stan Murphy and a successful advertising executive.
Alfred Vanderhoop, a member of the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah), was an important member of the Martha's Vineyard fishing community. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, later turning to commercial fishing in his iconic boat, Red Wing. He owned a fishing shack which is believed to be the only remaining structure to have survived the historic Hurricane of 1938 in Menemsha. This shack is now under the stewardship of the town of Aquinnah.
Fred Small is a pastor and musician living in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is the grandnephew of famed painter Thomas Hart Benton. Small left his profession as an attorney to focus on singing and songwriting.

Ruth Eldridge White was a native of Martha’s Vineyard and granddaughter of the publisher of “The Eldridge Tide and Pilot” book. She began her attempts to commercialize the fruit in the 1930's, during the Great Depression, beach plum in particular. She is also the grandmother of one of our other artists, the late Dan West.
Chris Murphy, the son of the artist Stan Murphy, is a fisherman in Chilmark, born on April 4, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended all seven grades in the two-room Menemsha School. He started fishing commercially as a 13-year-old boy.
Stan Murphy created a portrait of himself in the style of the painting from 1600 of cardinal Fernando Niño de Guevara by El Greco.
Herbert and William Hancock are brothers. Herbert was a important builder on Martha's Vineyard.
