Monique Long's Curated Highlights from 1-54 New York 2022

Monique Long is a resident of Harlem, New York. As an independent curator and writer, she primarily focuses on cultural production across disciplines including contemporary visual art and design.

Her current show is the group exhibition, Elegies: Still Lifes in Contemporary Art, on view at the Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco through August which will reopen at the Telfair Museum in Savannah, Georgia this Fall. She recently contributed a personal essay on Black fashion and the influence of Dapper Dan for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the occasion of the In America exhibition.

Her highlights below represent a range of mediums and genres that caught her interest at the fair, particularly depictions of the figure with experimental use of perspective and form, the minimalist multimedia works by Dudubloom More, and the gorgeous muted landscapes by Ibrahim El Dessouki.
