Abu Dhabi Art 2016 : A Global View of Art
Abu Dhabi Art 2016, scheduled to run from November 16–19 at Manarat Al Saadiyat, has announced that five renowned curators will participate in its eighth edition.

This year, Abu Dhabi Art is introducing a new vision with a curated exhibition titled ‘Gateway’, which will present a series of solo and group exhibitions of modern and contemporary artists.
It will display a large-scale installation by the influential Beijing artist Gu Dexin, and curated by Alexandra Munroe, Samsung Senior Curator, Asian Art and Senior Advisor, Global Arts at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation.
In addition, an exhibition on Modern Arab art will be curated by Catherine David, Deputy Director of the National Museum of Modern Art (Musée National d'Art Moderne) at Paris’ Centre Georges Pompidou.
Also part of ‘Gateway’, Abu Dhabi Art will present ‘(Re) Birth’, a thematic group exhibition including emerging and established artists from diverse times and geographies, curated by artistic director and long-term Abu Dhabi Art collaborator Fabrice Bousteau. He will also organise Abu Dhabi Art’s annual public art programme ‘Beyond’, which reflects Abu Dhabi Art’s mandate to connect with the wider urban fabric of the city with a series of large-scale installations and sculptures.
As part of the public programme, ‘Durub Al Tawaya’, a multidisciplinary platform for performing arts curated by Tarek Abou El Fetouh, will bring together a range of artists with diverse perspectives. Now in its fourth edition as a signature element of Abu Dhabi Art, ‘Durub Al Tawaya’ will reach beyond Manarat Al Saadiyat to engage with the city and people of Abu Dhabi through public performances and artistic engagements.
Curated by Reem Fadda, Associate Curator, Middle Eastern Art for the Abu Dhabi Project of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, a newly formulated initiative ‘Majlis Fann’ will provide a platform for panel discussions where international artists, curators, gallerists, collectors, museum directors, writers, and various cultural practitioners will be invited to speak as an opportunity to network, engage and explore the cultural scene of the UAE.
A series of public talks, bringing together experts from Louvre Abu Dhabi, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum and international arts institutions, will also take place.
