Don’t Miss Abu Dhabi Art’s Gateway: Line Exhibition, Only at Manarat Al Saadiyat
Specially curated for the 2017 annual art fair, Gateway: Line continues to fascinate visitors, and draw curatorial connections between established UAE artists and their international peers

Abu Dhabi, 3 January 2018: Abu Dhabi Art’s year-round public programme continues to draw visitors to Manarat Al Saadiyat and Al Ain with ongoing exhibition, Gateway: Line, curated by Maya Allison, and artworks by established contemporary artists, Manal Al Dowayan, and Nasser Al Salem, as part of Beyond: Artist Commissions.
Gateway: Line launched on 8 November with the 9th edition of the annual art fair, showcasing works by Ebtisam Abdulaziz, Saloua Rounda Choucair, David Claerbout, Shilpa Gupta, Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim, Mohammed Kazem, Tatsuo Miyajima. Specially curated by New York University Abu Dhabi’s Chief Curator Maya Allison, the exhibition centres on a deceptively simple compositional element: the line.
The title pays homage to a 2004 exhibition at the Sharjah Art Museum, titled Khat (“Line” in Arabic). Gateway: Line premiered the earliest conceptual works by a now-established artist, Ebtisam Abdulaziz (Emirati, b. 1975), alongside works of her senior peer, Mohammed Kazem (Emirati, b. 1965).
Gateway: Line welcomes visitors at Gallery 3 in Manarat Al Saadiyat daily from 9am until 8pm.
