10 November 2016 – Abu Dhabi, UAE: Dramatist and visual artist Anna Rispoli is set to create a site-specific practice along the UAE capital’s waterfront landmarks as part of Abu Dhabi Art 2016. Commissioned by curator Tarek Abou El Fetouh for the fourth edition of Durub Al Tawaya, Anna Rispoli: Five Attempts to Speak to An Alien is a powerful participatory public performance designed to draw audience members closer to both places and people by reimagining the city through a different and uniquely tailored perspective.

Rispoli invites audience members on a one-hour boat ride across the city’s waterfront on the theme of the innate alienation between human beings, in the form of a series of exercises to practice together to explore the human landscape to ‘speak to an alien’. The inspirational voyage will depart from Zayed Port on every night from Friday 11th November to Monday 14th November at 5:30pm, and again on Thursday 17 and Saturday 19 November. The performance is ticketed, and limited to a capacity of 50 passengers.

Anna Rispoli: Five Attempts to Speak to An Alien will return to Abu Dhabi in 2017.
