Joost Vanhaerents is the co-owner of the Vanhaerents Art Collection in Belgium, a unique and comprehensive collection of contemporary art, assembled by Walter Vanhaerents and his children Els and Joost. It enjoys the individual approach to collecting of its founders, as well as their shared passion for new and provocative art. The origins of the Vanhaerents Art Collection date back to the 1970s, when Walter Vanhaerents began amassing his first works of art.

Gathering pieces that were considered extremely fierce and radical at the time, he laid the groundwork for a collection that nowadays ranges among the most prestigious worldwide. The collection reflects the diversity and vitality of current art practices. Both established and emerging artists are represented, with works in various media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography and video.

Climbing on a rooftop in a misty metropolitan city for a panoramic view with the city map in your hands. The city is not an image and maps betray experience. Is it possible to talk to a city? And if the answer is yes: where from?

Fantastic work in the exhibition of Marcin Dudek at Harlan Levey’s new space in Molenbeek, Brussels. Once opened, the retable is a shrine of beautiful works relating to the past of the artist as a hooligan. As a part of the process of grieving and coping with his past.

COVID has been an inspiration for many artists. The lockdown in their studios gave them a lot of creative time. The light at the end of the tunnel is visible now. Hopefully soon we can touch each other again.
