Starting with a VIP preview on April 19th, 162 galleries from 16 countries will participate at the prominent contemporary art fair at BEXCO in Busan, South Korea from April 20-22. Art Busan, now at its 7th edition, has grown beyond a domestic art fair into an international fair attracting attention from around the world.
106 domestic galleries will participate in Art Busan 2018 this year. Major galleries actively engaging and representing Korea at the international stage, such as Kukje Gallery, Gallery Hyundai, PKM Gallery, Arario Gallery, and Leeahn Gallery, will participate. In addition, young galleries spearheading curatorial initiatives, such as Gallery EM, Gallery 2, g.gallery, Studio Concrete, ERD, Gallery MEI, and Gallery TOAST, also confirmed their participation, breathing vitality into the fair. Internationally, over 55 galleries from 15 countries, such as Pearl Lam Galleries, Tomio Koyama Gallery, Tang Contemporary Art, The Drawing Room, Platform China Contemporary Art Institute, will be participating this year.
This year, a variety of special exhibitions and satellite events have been planned in order to engage more closely with not just art connoisseurs, but also the general public, and also to cement its position as Busan’s representative art festival.
This year, Art Busan plans to increase the number of collectors from last year by inviting young collectors from all over Asia, as well as leading influencers from all over the world. In addition, it is focusing on attracting domestic and international VIP clients by developing a variety of programs that incorporate local tourism with cooperation from luxury hotels and travel agencies.
