Opening Night Preview

The Opening Night Preview is the celebratory launch of Art Toronto 2013 and a benefit for the Art Gallery of Ontario.  For over 10 years the AGO and Art Toronto have partnered on this event which has raised over $2 million dollars for the gallery.

Since 2007, the AGO has used funds raised during the evening to purchase works of contemporary art for the permanent collection.  Last year the gallery acquired work by Stephen Andrews, Julia Dault and Itee Pootoogook.

For the 14th edition of Art Toronto the AGO has commissioned Johannes Zits and Victoria Stanton to perform a series of performative video projection actions resulting from their current project Relating to Geography. In addition, pm Gallery will also present a work by New York based artist Kurt Bigenho called “The Disorganizers”.  The performance will take place throughout the evening.

Collectors look forward to attending the Special Collectors’ Preview, the first opportunity to view and buy work before the fair opens to the public.  During this portion of the evening, the AGO Acquisition Committee will choose which works they incorporate into the collection.
