Following celebration of the Fair’s first 25 years, the launch of a new publication documenting Argentina’s art scene and  the presentation of a new exhibition format, arteBA Focus, the year 2017 also marks the beginning of a new phase of  growth for arteBA Fundación, both as an institution and an international art fair. In this context, arteBA announces its 26th  edition, which invites reflection on contemporary art’s present as well as its future.

The 26th edition of arteBA will be held from Wednesday, May 24 to Saturday, May 27 at La  Rural exhibition venue (Palermo, Buenos Aires), articulating new propositions in resonance with Argentina’s significant  presence in this year’s international calendar. Claudia Fontes was chosen to represent our country at the Venice Biennale,  Marta Minujín is presenting her Parthenon of banned books at Documenta 14 in Kassel and, in Southern California, 48  institutions will focus on exploring Latin American art in the ambitious Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA initiative, including  a solid segment of participation from Argentina which includes Fernanda Laguna at the LACMA. All three artists will be  present at arteBA, participating in the Art Conversations series, part of the Open Forum program.

Over 50% of the fair’s participating galleries come from overseas, further accentuating this solid international context. With  HSBC as the new primary sponsor, the Fair will feature 91 galleries from 20 countries taking part in the Main Section as  well as the curated sections: Germany, Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, the United States,  France, Japan, Kosovo, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.

arteBA is a galleries’ fair, and the artists are part of the galleries proposals to participate. arteBA has open call sections like the Main Section (which includes Special Projects and Cabinet) and Barrio Joven Chandon; and curated sections like U-TURN Project Rooms and Solo Show. Besides, there is Dixit which is a special section with a curated exhibition where the artists participate with their representing galleries and the art publications’ section, Isla de Ediciones.  More information on arteBA's 2017 Sections and Programs can be found here.
