San Francisco
January 3rd was the last day to see the Boiler Room at Heath Ceramic’s show focused on a single object type: lighting. If you missed “Design Series 3: Lighting from the Heath Clay Studio,” be sure to check out studio director Tung Chiang’s newest works in clay in on Artsy.
New York
Closing on January 7th, “Brazil Modern” at R & Company showcases the vast body of work produced in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in the middle of the 20th century.
Meanwhile, at at The Museum of Modern Art, both “Making Music Modern: Design for Ear and Eye” as well as “This Is for Everyone: Design Experiments for the Common Good” will end January 18th. While the former exhibition traces the intertwined relationship between music and design in the 20th century, the latter examines the state of contemporary design as it relates to new digital technologies.

While “Provocations: The Architecture and Design of Heatherwick Studio” at the Cooper Hewitt closed on the 3rd, “How Posters Work” at the same museum features work from the institution’s the permanent collection not often visible to the public and remains on view until the 17th.
Opening January 21st, “Katsuyo Aoki: Dark Globe” at Jason Jacques Inc. will present the elaborate ceramic work of the Japanese sculptor.

Swiss design duo Kueng Caputo (Sarah Kueng and Lovis Caputo) will debut their latest work at Etage Projects in the exhibition “ONOFF,” which opens January 15th.
Paris
It’s all about interiors this month at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs with two new exhibitions opening on January 21st. “Faire le Mur! quatre siècles de papiers peints” will showcase hundreds of wallpapers from the 18th century to contemporary times. The second exhibition pays homage to one of the biggest names in Parisian interior design, Pierre Frey, and his expansive body of work.

Events
During Winter Antiques Week, stop by Ferrin Contemporary’s booth at the New York Ceramics & Glass Fair 2016 for the latest clay works by artists including Sergei Isupov, Paul Scott and Bouke de Vries. The fair is open to the public from January 21st—24th.
FOG Design+Art kicks off for the third year with an opening gala benefiting SFMOMA on January 13th. The fair will run through the weeknd at Fort Mason bringing a diverse range of exhibitors, from San Francisco’s own Lebreton Gallery to London’s David Gill Gallery.
