A 1980 lithograph print featuring one of David Hockney’s iconic swimming pools has attracted collector interest over the past week at the Artsy x Seoul Auctions “Contemporary Icons” sale. Having met its reserve price, the work is on pace to sell well within its estimate before the auction closes on November 18th.

Amoako Boafo, Untitled (2018)

This 2018 portrait by Ghanaian artist Amoako Boafo has already seen a flurry of inquiries since being uploaded to the platform by Visioner on November 5th. Featured as one of the artists in The Artsy Vanguard 2020, Boafo has had a meteoric rise in the art world, making his work subject to flipping this past year. This past September saw the opening of Boafo’s inaugural solo exhibition with Mariane Ibrahim, “I Stand By Me,” which presented a series of never-before-seen works.

Mashudu Nevhutalu, Day at the Park (2020)

This ethereal portrait by South African artist Mashudu Nevhutalu was uploaded to Artsy as part of his solo exhibition “Matriarchs” at 99 Loop Gallery. A tribute to the women in his family, the exhibition features portraits painted in the artist’s warm, saturated palette.

Alex Katz, Homage to Monet (triptych) 2019

Uploaded as part of the recent Rago Auctions “Prints + Multiples” sale, Alex Katz’s triptych paying homage to Monet’s water lilies easily surpassed its high estimate before bidding closed. Part of an edition of 100, the print is a playful Pop-art take on the Impressionist masterwork.

Currently on view as part of Beers London’s presentation at Art Toronto, this mixed-media work by the Canadian-British artist Andrew Salgado has seen consistent interest since being uploaded to the platform on October 6th. An expressive blend of figuration and abstraction, the work continues Salgado’s ongoing exploration of the emotional potency of color.

Yoshitomo Nara, Real One (2020)

This Yoshitomo Nara print accumulated a number of bids above its high estimate prior to selling as part of the Artsy x Forum Auctions “Selected Street Art” sale. Nara’s massive, 25-foot-tall sculpture Miss Forest (LACMA Version) (2020) was recently acquired by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

Mehdi Ghadyanloo, Future Intuition (2015)

Though it’s only been a short while since this piece was uploaded to Artsy as part of Tate Ward’s “By Collectors For Collectors” auction, this print by Iranian artist Mehdi Ghadyanloo has already surpassed its high estimate amid early bidding excitement. Based on the initial interest, the work is expected to become very popular by the time bidding closes on November 24th.
