EXPO CHICAGO 2016: Programming
In addition to viewing artwork from artists and galleries from around the world, admission to EXPO CHICAGO includes access to dynamic programming—including panel discussions, large scale site-specific installations, performances, book signings, video and new media screenings, and some of the best international publications on contemporary art.
/Dialogues
Presented in partnership with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), /Dialogues offers panel discussions, conversations and provocative artistic discourse with leading artists, curators, designers and arts professionals on the current issues that engage them.

EXPO VIDEO
EXPO VIDEO highlights a selection of dynamic and cutting-edge film, video, and new media works by artists selected from 2016 Exhibitors. The works on view are presented in a variety of screening formats including two large-format screening rooms, as well as several viewing stations designed by Studio Gang Architects. The 2016 program will be curated by Daria de Beauvais and will highlight some of the most exciting film, video and new media works being made today.

IN/SITU & IN/SITU OUTSIDE
The IN/SITU program provides exhibiting galleries the opportunity to showcase large-scale installations and site-specific works by leading artists during EXPO CHICAGO. As a core program, installed within the vast architecture and vaulted ceilings of Navy Pier’s iconic Festival Hall, the strength of the IN/SITU program is its ability to feature major suspended installations in addition to large scale work. Associate Curator at Pérez Art Museum Miami since 2012, Diana Nawi will curate the 2016 program.

EXPO Projects
EXPO Projects is presented alongside IN/SITU in and around Navy Pier, featuring a curated selection of projects organized by EXPO CHICAGO. The site-specific installation program highlights large-scale and performative works by emerging and established artists represented by 2016 Exhibitors.

Special Exhibitions
The Special Exhibitions program features select regional, national, and international non-profit institutions, museums, and organizations to be included on the main floor of the exposition. EXPO CHICAGO’s Special Exhibitions offer unique, high-quality installations, joining 140 leading galleries from around the world featured throughout Navy Pier’s iconic Festival Hall. Complementing the surrounding elements of the fair, this program illustrates and preserves the important relationship between contemporary and modern art and non-profit organizations.

OVERRIDE | A BILLBOARD PROJECT
OVERRIDE | A Billboard Project is a cutting edge citywide public art initiative, presented by EXPO CHICAGO and the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE). Displayed on the 28 digital billboards throughout Chicago’s City Digital Network (CDN), the citywide exhibition will run from August 29–September 25, 2016 to align with the fifth annual exposition. This inaugural program, featuring 15 artists from major local, national, and international galleries, will include 7 Chicago-based artists and dealers alongside participants from New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, and Athens, among other major cities.

EXPO Editions + Books
Inaugurated in 2014, EXPO Editions + Books showcases a cross-section of artist books, editions, prints, and more. From limited edition collectibles to zines and pocketbooks, the booths will offer a diverse array of print media and cultures that span across photography, collage, drawing, printmaking, art monographs, and creative writing.
curatorial forum
From its inception, part of EXPO CHICAGO's mission has been to include, serve, and showcase the vibrant exhibitions and programming taking place in the world's leading art institutions.
The Curatorial Forum is designed to provide leading curators from national and international institutions with a unique networking opportunity at EXPO CHICAGO, the International Exposition of Contemporary and Modern Art. Attendees will have exclusive access to the exposition on opening day, as well as throughout its run, collection visits, studio visits and many VIP events. The Forum allows the curators to discuss current and upcoming exhibitions with colleagues, dealers and attending artists, acting as a catalyst for future collaborative programming within their own institutions as well as with EXPO CHICAGO.
In 2016, EXPO CHICAGO is proud to work in collaboration with Independent Curators International (ICI) to present a symposium allowing the participating curators a chance to delve deeper into the major issues in curatorial practice today.
ART CRITICS FORUM
EXPO CHICAGO's inaugural Art Critics Forum will highlight significant issues in arts journalism today through the voices of a national and international art critics.
