International and Local Gallery Line Up Announced for 2018 Auckland Art Fair

New Zealand’s premier international showcase for contemporary art, the Auckland Art Fair (AAF), has announced the list of galleries that will be showing at this year’s event,May 23-27 at The Cloud on Auckland’s Queens Wharf.
Showcasing the most interesting art from the Pacific-rim, the stellar line-up of 40 participating galleries from nine countries, will include new works, from some of the big names of the art world.
“We’re really excited to announce that this year we have 12 international galleries and 28 local galleries exhibiting in the main gallery section at the Fair”, says Auckland Art Fair Co-Director, Stephanie Post.
The reputation of the Auckland Art Fair as a significant Fair for exhibiting and purchasing, cutting-edge contemporary art, from the wider Pacific region, continues to grow and this is illustrated by the number of new works that are being created, specifically for the Fair, by some of the Pacific’s top artists.
Alongside the 40 galleries, the 2018 Fair will also introduce Piki Mai: Up Here ^^, a new section that features five young galleries, artist run spaces and student / recent graduate exhibitions. Located on the mezzanine level of The Cloud, Piki Mai: Up Here ^^ offers a snapshot of artists whose work could appear at future art fairs.
The calibre of art being shown by established and emerging artists is already attracting international collectors and curators, with the Auckland Art Fair firmly established as a key event in the international arts calendar.
This year’s Fair will see work by more than 150 artists from New Zealand, Australia, parts of South-east Asia, Japan, the USA, South America and the Pacific Islands.
Following the success of 2016, this years fair has attracted 20 new galleries.
