At the Blanton Museum of Art, we believe that art is life enhancing. Encounters with great works can be powerful, and can enable us to see beyond our world and discover something unexpected about ourselves. In all that we do, from our diverse exhibitions to dynamic multi-disciplinary programming, we strive to offer thought-provoking, visually arresting, and personally moving experiences for our visitors, both onsite and online. Like Artsy, we aim to provide “pathways to discovery,” and invite you to explore a sampling of our collection of more than 17,000 works of art.

The art museum of The University of Texas at Austin, the Blanton holds the largest collection of fine art in Central Texas and is recognized for its modern and contemporary American and Latin American art, Italian Renaissance and Baroque paintings, and encyclopedic collection of prints and drawings. We present temporary exhibitions from around the globe—featuring artists from El Anatsui to Luca Cambiaso—culled from our permanent collection or presented in collaboration with other national and international museums. We also commission site-specific art installations, including the immersive Stacked Waters by artist Teresita Fernández that occupies our atrium. Our dynamic range of programs provides opportunities for artists, musicians, and museum visitors to use the Blanton as a source of inspiration and site for creativity.

We are proud to partner with Artsy and to share our unique collection.

Works of art are so much more than what one sees…we construct images based much more on our own experience of the world and our preconceptions of it, than what the text is telling us.
