Douglas Coupland, Canadian author and artist, has been revealed as the artist behind the large scale public art project, specially commissioned for CHART ART FAIR which has taken over the city of Copenhagen since Monday, 8 August. Coupland, who is best known for his novel GENERATION X and concepts like MCJOBS, has selected 15 slogans from his work SLOGANS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY, an ongoing series of statements which deftly describe the early 21st century condition.

Until August 28, his slogans can be found all over Copenhagen: on 5.000 posters throughout the city; Politiken’s advertising light screens; 30 private resident’s Altan.dk balconies; the subway; in the windows of Mads Nørgaard’s store on Amagertorv and on limited editions t-shirts, as well as on a shuttle between SMK National Gallery of Denmark and Charlottenborg; and at CHART ART FAIR during Copenhagen Art Week.

This special art project is made possible by a collaboration between CHART, Altan.dk and Mads Nørgaard.
