Collect 2022: Fair Director's Choice
Isobel Dennis, Fair Director, Collect
“A very warm welcome to this year’s Collect, the leading international fair for contemporary craft and design.
2022 will see my fourth year as Director of Collect and the 18th year of the fair. It has gone through much change during my relatively short period as its Director; some very planned, such as moving to the neoclassical beauty of Somerset House in central London in 2020, and some unplanned having to run the fair in a fully digital format in 2021.
Which is why it is such a pleasure to be returning to Somerset House for 2022 but also to be hosting the fair on Artsy. This has allowed us to be inclusive of those galleries unable to currently travel so we are delighted to have 40 galleries taking part in Collect 2022. 31 taking part online as well as in the physical event at Somerset House with a further 9 international galleries joining here at Artsy.net. With 12 Collect Open projects at the fair, this combination provides an exceptional richness of artists and works available for audiences to view and hopefully acquire, whether online or at Somerset House.
It is almost impossible to select my favourites from the fair as I can honestly say that I respond to pretty much every piece with emotions of joy, curiosity, awe and appreciation. However, I hope you enjoy a few rather special pieces that stood out to me.”
