We are delighted to bring you the 2022 Collect Talks Programme which is supported by media partner Crafts magazine and comprises 5 major events.
Crafts has championed the finest makers, ideas and innovations in the UK and across the world for the past 50 years.
Tickets to join the talks live online are £8.50 per event. If you are attending these talks at the fair in Somerset House, London, attending the talk forms part of your entry ticket or invitation.
Please note that the talk Material Innovation : Reinterpretation is sponsored by the LOEWE FOUNDATION and is free to attend online.
The Collect Talks Theatre can be found at Somerset House on the lower ground floor via the Stamp Stair in the southeast corner of the building.

The Fielding Talk offers a unique opportunity to hear about an artist's work in depth. For Collect 2022, Alice Kettle has created new site-responsive work, exploring the histories and narratives of royal women who have resided at Somerset House. As well as discussing this commission, she will consider the shifting role of the artist in society at a time of profound change, how thread can be a powerful way to explore themes of cultural heritage, journeys, and displacement, and how her artistic and academic works connect and enrich one another.

Join Anatxu Zabalbeascoa, and previous LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize finalists, as they discuss how craft recycles knowledge, traditions and skills as well as materials, themes and careers. With daring proposals for the future rooted in a deep understanding of the past, contemporary craft is intended for the long term. Its artistic ambition consists of keeping alive but updating traditions, with a cultural responsibility that implies social and environmental concerns.

Chaired by House & Garden’s features editor Elizabeth Metcalfe, interior designer and antiques dealer Max Rollitt and gallerist Sarah Myerscough reflect on the role craft plays in interiors today. United through their love of natural materials, the pair demystify the process of collecting craft for your home and reflect on how these tactile pieces can enrich an interior.

As we celebrate the UN’s International Year of Glass, Crafts magazine brings together four makers pushing the material in fresh directions, experimenting with techniques, and turning up the heat. Hear from Elliot Walker, winner of the hit Netflix series Blown Away 2; Matt Durran, curator of the 2022 British Glass Biennale; Brookfield Properties Craft Prize nominee Anthony Amoako-Attah; and award-winning artist Juli Bolaños-Durman, who will share insights into the glass market in the UK and beyond.
Booth talks
Alongside the main talks programme, there are a series of more intimate talks with gallerists and artists over the course of the fair. These take place on the gallery stands and give a richer insight into the work they represent. They are free to ticket holders so just turn up to the relevant stand and enjoy!
