State Tretyakov Gallery Will Become Cosmoscow’ 2017 Museum Partner

The 5th edition of Cosmoscow international contemporary art fair will take place within Moscow’s Gostiny Dvor on 8–10 September 2017, supported by strategic partner Credit Suisse and jewelery partner Messika. The State Tretyakov Gallery will be Cosmoscow’s Museum Partner for 2017.

The collaboration will include several elements, including an important donation to the Museum’s permanent collection with participation of the recently established Cosmoscow Foundation for Contemporary Art.

In addition, Mrs. Zelfira Tregulova, Director of the State Tretyakov gallery will join Cosmoscow Art Fair Collectors’ Board, while Irina Gorlova, Head of Contemporary Art Department will become a jury member of a newly launched Cosmoscow Stand Prize. Cosmoscow VIP card holders will also have special access to the museum’s exhibitions free of charge throughout the Fair and until December 31, 2017.

As part of the partnership between the Tretyakov gallery and Cosmoscow International Contemporary Art Fair a special acquisition of a work by young Russian artist to the museum’s permanent collection will be made with participation of Cosmoscow Foundation for Contemporary Art. The artist and artwork will be announced during Cosmoscow’s opening press call on 7 September. Established in 2017, Cosmoscow Foundation for Contemporary Art combines Cosmoscow non-commercial initiatives undertaken in recent years. The main objective of the Foundation is to support contemporary art in Russia, assist its integration into the international art market, the promotion of young artists and the development of art philanthropy in Russia. The Foundation will include various initiatives including prizes, projects, and will also provide direct funding to support unique cultural initiatives.

Mrs. Tregulova, Director of the State Tretyakov gallery joins the Cosmoscow Collectors’ Board. Along with the Expert Committee, it is one of two main advisory bodies of the Fair. It includes the most prominent art professionals, collectors and philanthropists such as Teresa Iarocci Mavica, Vasili Tsereteli, Vladimir and Ekaterina Semenikhin, Dilyara Allakhverdova, Antoine Arnault, Natalia Vodianova, and Olga Vashchilina.

Mrs. Gorlova, Head of Contemporary Art Department at The State Tretyakov Gallery will become a jury member of a newly launched Cosmoscow Stand Prize that will offer free participation in the next Cosmoscow art fair to the winner. The jury will base their choice primarily on the booth's display proposal, considering factors such as integrity, originality, and the strength of the curatorial approach.

The final element of the collaboration will offer Cosmoscow VIP card holders the opportunity to visit The State Tretyakov Gallery’s exhibitions free of charge through December 31, 2017. The Cosmoscow 2017 Parallel programme will include The Modern Art: 1960–2000. Restart exhibition, which is the fourth variation of the Museum’s contemporary art collection display since the 2000’s, dedicated to Russian art of the 1960’s-2000’s. The display features works from the legendary collection of Leonid Talochkin (1936-2002), which has rarely been seen in public for many years.
