Recently voted the best-dressed Brit in history, David Bowie lends famous threads and personal memorabilia to the “David Bowie is” exhibition at Toronto’s Art Gallery of Ontario, following its debut at the V&A. Open through Nov. 27, the show displays a collection of the pop culture icon’s stage costumes, musical instruments, album-cover art, and music videos. Last June, Artsy discussed the show at the V&A and a concurrent show at London’s Opera gallery, which featured a wild array of artistic interpretations of Bowie. In the first international exhibition devoted entirely to Bowie, his belongings are especially welcome at two internationally renowned art museums given his declaration: “Art was, seriously, the only thing I’d ever wanted to own.”
