As the first international art fair on the continent, the FNB JoburgArtFair plays a pivotal role in supporting the contemporary arts landscape in Africa. The Fair provides a space for leading artists, galleries, collectors, writers, thinkers and art lovers to congregate. Now in its eleventh year, it continues to strengthen this position by presenting the finest of contemporary African art alongside memorable exhibitions and groundbreaking initiatives.

Special features of the Fair include a series of curated Special Projects, a VIP Programme hosting top international curators and directors from institutions like Tate Modern, the Venice Biennale, Centre Pompidou and Performa as well as a Talks Programme that invites art-world figures, philosophers, and critical theorists to deliver key-note lectures and participate in panel discussions. The 2018 Fair will also see the eighth edition of the FNB Art Prize – a major opportunity for an artist to realise a new work at the Fair.

The 2018 selection committee is made up of Joost Bosland (Stevenson), Jonathan Garnham (blank projects), Monna Mokoena, (Gallery MOMO), Baylon Sandri (SMAC Gallery) and Rakeb Sile (Addis Fine Art) and is chaired in a non-voting capacity by FNB JoburgArtFair Curator Amy Ellenbogen.
